Algal Filament Necklace

This pendant depicts the silica structure of the algae Dactyliosolens spp.. This creature has tube-like cells that link together to produce long chains of glass that drift with the ocean currents, provide food for much of the ocean life, and contribute to the regulation of our global climate.
